I started sawmilling over 24 years ago in the remote community of Kyuquot, where we raised our seven children, I taught in the nearby school, sawmilled and built local projects like boardwalks.

I've done portable sawmill consulting work in the Yukon, NorthWest Territories, Alberta, and British Columbia.

The quality of much of the wood I have cut is better than what is found in stores. (The best wood is often exported internationally.)

I've cut over a million board feet of lumber.
and helped fulfill the dream of many homebuilders and wood enthusiasts.
Much of the lumber I cut has been cut for people wanting to build with wood from their own property. Beams, flooring, siding, and trim as well as doors and windows have all been cut.
My teaching degree from the University of Victoria, combined with my hands-on experience on a sawmill has led me to develop training to help others learn far more quickly than I did!
Woodmizer sawmills are suprisingly versatile, reliable, and extremely efficient. I've used them for over 24 years and am very satisfied with the brand.
I've cut a diverse variety of trees: Douglas fir and Western Red Cedar being the most common. I have also cut hemlock, balsam, spruce, yew, oak, arbutus, cottonwood, poplar, and birch. The hardest to cut was Cambodian Rosewood that went to Martin Guitar Company.
Recently, I've devloped a cabin prototype based on the old Fort Langley design. The materials are simple to cut, and its even easier assemble.
I am thrilled with the opportunity to help people learn practical hands-on skills.
